About Us

We exist so people can experience hope, health, and wholeness.

We love what we do. Every day, our team embraces the opportunity to educate, encourage, and celebrate life-change with the people and families we help through holistic chiropractic care.

Our Family

Dr. Tom and Marissa Nixon have the honor and privilege of owning Twin City Health. Dr. Nixon was inspired to become a chiropractor after watching his Dad, through a natural route, reverse his diabetes, heart disease, and come off all his medication. Marissa, originally a huge chiropractic skeptic, underwent quite the change of heart after experiencing relief from almost a lifetime of terrible migraines. Together, they are incredibly grateful for the natural health knowledge they’ve acquired for themselves (and their kiddos, Lincoln and Lily!) and are passionate about sharing that knowledge with other families.

Originally from Ormond Beach, Florida, (fun fact: they’ve been together since high school) they moved to Winston in 2012 and have loved this city since. Their dream is to see their city become as healthy as possible by encouraging others they are worth the practice of taking care of themselves.

Testimonials

Stacey Hancock

Patient Care Coordinator

Stacey is an East coast girl through and through and has been living in Winston-Salem for over a decade. She is gratefully married to her perfect match and best friend, they have three boys and a new babe on the way! She has a Master’s degree in Human Services; which is a fancy way to say learning and loving people well is her favorite topic. She is always in the mood for beautiful stationary, feel good music and Clemson football. She believes the Twin City Health team is building something remarkable and she is honored to be a part of it.

Kristin Basch

Patient Care Coordinator

Kristin is an NC native and attended college at Johnson & Wales University for Baking & Pastry Arts. She met her husband, Greg, at Elevation Church in Charlotte and got married in April 2015. After Greg came on staff at Elevation, they moved to Winston-Salem in February 2017 to launch a new campus. In November 2020, Kristin and Greg had their first baby, a little girl! They’re thrilled and loving being parents.

After spending 9 years in the baking industry as a cake decorator, she felt a desire to help people in a different way. She had been a patient at Twin City Health with her husband and had seen how much they drastically changed his life. Greg had struggled with chronic back pain for years following many sports injuries and Kristin had walked with him through that struggle for their whole relationship. It was incredible for her to see him back to full health after getting treatment at Twin City! She knew this was something she wanted to be a part of. She is passionate about loving people and seeing them begin to understand how God created their bodies to heal and function at optimum levels.

She and Greg love trying new restaurants and watching food documentaries. She loves cooking, baking, painting and all things crafty and creative. She also loves snuggling with her sweet puppy, Gamble.

Pearl Pendergrass

Patient Care Coordinator & X-ray tech

Originally from Newark, NJ, Pearl is the youngest of 5 children and the only girl, so you can imagine she had to be a tough cookie growing up. At 13, she moved to Charlotte, NC where she attended and graduated from West Charlotte High School. Upon graduation, she moved to Winston-Salem to attend Winston Salem State University to pursue nursing but believe it was a blessing in disguise that path didn’t work out. Pearl now has a passion for holistic health, specifically chiropractic care and desires to attend chiropractic school next year!

Pearl fell in love with MaxLiving after attending one of Dr. Nixon’s community dinners where he lit up the entire room with his passion for getting people well through chiropractic care. She was currently working in another chiropractic office that was moving away from the care they originally provided and she felt her purpose was not being fulfilled any longer. Pearl then attended Twin City Health’s ladies night where she was introduced to Marissa Nixon and got to meet the entire team. Pearl was completely blown away as to how welcoming they made her feel and how the patients responded to the office. Pearl says the thing she likes most about Twin City Health is “not only does the team make patients feel like family but the doctors look at the entire body as a whole. It’s great they get you out of pain but the best thing of all is getting people off of prescription drugs and living the life God has designed for them”.

She’s excited to help with the mission of Twin City Health, which is to bring hope, health & wholeness to our city.

Dr. Tiffany Bradley

Doctor of Chiropractic

Dr. Tiffany was raised in the Port Orange, FL before attending college at the University of South Florida in Tampa. There she developed a passion for learning how the body heals, for women’s health, and obstetrics.

She grew up with family members seeking help for the chronic illness and witnessed little to no improvement despite being given countless medications. After discovering the holistic results of chiropractic and how it allows the body to heal itself, Dr. Tiffany decided to attend Palmer Chiropractic College in Port Orange, FL. There, she further pursued pediatrics and learned webster techniques for future moms.

Upon graduating she was introduced to MaxLiving and immediately connected with the mission to help others become healthier versions of themselves. She loves seeing families empowered and hopes to see Winston become one of the healthiest cities.

When Dr. Tiffany is not at the office, you can find her hiking and exploring with her pup, Monty. She also enjoys spending time rock climbing, hiking, snowboarding, catching a wave on the coast, or doing anything in nature.

Dr. Jessica Lee

Doctor of Chiropractic

Dr. Jessica was born and raised in the Washington D.C. area before attending college at Virginia Tech. After graduating, she moved back home and worked as a personal trainer before realizing she had a passion to help others with more than just their fitness levels. She watched as loved ones around her lost their health without knowing where to seek proper help and wanted to do something to change it. She felt and knew she had a greater calling to give others hope through empowering them to attain a healthier life.

At Palmer Chiropractic College she first was introduced to MaxLiving and was drawn to their mission to help people reach their health goals naturally. She loves being a part of a group that feels like family and is all about serving and loving others. Dr. Jessica specializes in providing care for expecting moms, ensuring their body is in proper alignment for delivery. Being able to adjust moms-to-be throughout their pregnancy and then adjust their babies is one of her favorite joys.

When Dr. Jessica is not at the office, you can find her hiking with her border collie, Maggie, or in a CrossFit gym. She enjoys spending time doing anything in nature, hiking, snowboarding, or spending time at a beach.

Ashley Landreth

X-Ray Tech & Lead Designer

Ashley was born and raised in Winston Salem, NC. She graduated with her bachelors from Bridges Christian College where she studied Theology and Spiritual development. During the summers of 2013 and 2014, she spent time in Kenya, Africa doing medical missions in the slums of Nairobi. This caused her heart to expand and opened her eyes to see that ALL people need physical and inner healing, regardless of their culture.

All at the same time in 2013, during her second year of college, she found herself experiencing the pain of scoliosis that had been the norm in her life for as long as she could remember. Soon after, she was led to Twin City Health where she met Dr. Tom and Marissa Nixon. Little did she know that she would soon be led to join this team less than 3 years later!

She has a deep desire for both inner and physical healing. Watching two dreams collide of wholeness and health within the community of Winston Salem has been the best adventure. She loves people, art and beauty, culture, and Jesus. She is so excited to meet you and learn your story!

Lisa Garner

Patient Care Coordinator

Lisa began with MaxLiving as a patient. She had struggled with various health issues since childhood, but never imagined it could get as bad as it did. She had a laundry list of problems: chronic sinusitis and bronchitis, allergies, migraine headaches, digestive problems, menstrual problems, insomnia, joint pain, sciatica and got an average six to eight viral infections a year. She was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, and depression which brought muscle pain, weakness, crushing pain in her hands and feet, profound exhaustion, difficulty concentrating and even hair loss. She was taking six different medications every day including anti-depressants which she was told she would need for the rest of her life. At that point, she had no hope but began care with MaxLiving as a last resort because it was the one thing she hadn’t tried.
As she began to implement the 5 Essentials into her life, everything changed. She reversed every diagnosis she was given, got off all medications, starting losing weight, and got her life back. Today, she is the healthiest she has ever been! Her life was truly transformed so she changed careers to help others toward hope and healing.

Lisa is the proud rescue momma of two dogs and three cats. In her free time, she loves spending time with her loved ones and her church community, enjoys art, theatre, and tromping around in the woods.

Marissa Nixon

Owner

Marissa is the owner and director of Twin City Health with her husband, Dr. Tom Nixon and proud mom to Lincoln. After graduating from Florida State University’s College of Business and spending years as a corporate event planner, Marissa experienced firsthand the powerful results of chiropractic.

Originally a huge skeptic, she understands other’s hesitations, questions, concerns, and doubts. It wasn’t until she gained enormous relief from decades of terrible migraines, and witnessed others around her (including her own family) experience life-changing results, that she became incredibly passionate about sharing the benefits of chiropractic care and natural health. Marissa’s greatest joy is seeing people step into their God-given purpose. She loves seeing patients, her team, as well as other chiropractors come alive as they regain their health and discover their value.

With the mission to help people experience hope, health and wholeness, she and her husband opened Twin City Health in January 2013. Through wellness events, working one on one with patients, and leading her team, Marissa loves to fight for and celebrate the small and large health achievements. Whether it’s the simple ability for a mom to pick up her child again or a teenager who is able to cancel his scoliosis surgery, every story makes all the work worthwhile.

Fun fact: she and Dr. Nixon started dating in high school and have been together ever since. When not working to help more people, you’ll find them exploring the great outdoors, traveling to various seminars for personal growth, playing in the snow at every opportunity possible (again, they’re from Florida), and sharing delicious (and healthy) meals with family & friends.

Dr. Tom Nixon

Owner

Dr. Tom Nixon was born and raised in Ormond Beach, Florida. He graduated with his bachelors from the University of Central Florida and went on to receive his doctorate degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic. Dedicated to transforming the health of families in the Triad community, Dr. Nixon is committed to helping people achieve true healing through lifestyle choices.

From Dr. Nixon: At a young age, I watched as my dad battled type II diabetes, high blood pressure, two heart attacks and underwent a quadruple heart bypass. He was diagnosed with chronic heart disease and was told he would be on medication for the rest of his life. Not accepting this conclusion, my dad sought a natural route through chiropractic care, nutrition and exercise instead of merely treating his symptoms. After a changed mindset and much work, he reversed his diabetes, heart disease, and came off all his medication. My dad’s journey and the impact his loss of health had on my family during that time is what inspired me to become a doctor of chiropractic. I love the opportunity I have to empower and encourage people to reach their potential, both in life and in health, and to provide hope that they are not defined by their diagnosis. My mission and privilege is to help another mother, father, child, friend, etc get their health back so they can not only fulfill the life they were called to, but also to help and inspire those around them make healthy life choices. The movement of MaxLiving is striving to change the way healthcare is viewed and delivered in this country, and I absolutely believe it is possible with education and each of us taking responsibility for our health. My wife and I were called to the city of Winston Salem. We love our town, are grateful for the mission we are a part of, and look forward to every person and family we get to meet and help achieve their highest potential of health.
